A clinic price buys professional fitting and aftercare, which is worth it for some people. If you mainly need the device, this is the difference.

What people say after a few weeks

Robert Ellison5/5
My wife reads little bits of the newspaper to me over breakfast. With the B02, I’m catching more without asking her to start over. Been using them most mornings for three weeks now.
Daniel Foster4/5
My son helped with the app, but I’ve managed the volume myself since then. Lunch with my brother was easier to follow. Still had trouble when the table behind us got loud.
Patricia Bennett5/5
I kept waiting for the clips to bother me with my glasses. Wore them through lunch and a card game without needing to take them off. That’s a welcome change from my last pair.
Susan Whitmore4/5
I like not having an earpiece pushed inside my ear. The charging case lives beside my bed now, which helps me remember. Getting the left clip settled still takes an extra try some mornings.

Why people switch

Most hearing aids seal your ear shut. This one doesn't.

Almost every complaint people have about hearing aids — the soreness, the whistling, the hollow voice — comes from one design decision: a tip pushed down into the ear canal.

The clip worn on an ear with the canal left open

Nothing presses on the inside

No tip, no dome, no mould. The canal stays open all day.

A woman talking easily on a call in her kitchen

Your own voice sounds normal

Seal an ear and your own voice gets trapped inside it. An open canal lets it out.

Less squeal when someone hugs you

How to use it

Four steps, about five minutes

No appointment, no prescription, no clinic visit. Everything happens at your kitchen table.

The charging case open with both earpieces inside

1Charge the case

Plug it in until the display reads 100. A full case lasts about a week.

2Clip it on

Hook it over your ear. Nothing pushes in. Left and right are marked.

3Run the hearing check

Sit somewhere quiet and follow the tones in the app. It tunes both ears to your result.

4Pick a mode and forget it

Quiet, outdoors, noisy or automatic. Change it in the app, or with the remote in the box.

If you would rather not use a phone at all, you don't have to. The pair arrives pre-set and works out of the box, and the included remote changes volume and modes without an app.

Not the quiet of a living room. These are the rooms where people with mild to moderate hearing loss stop joining in.

Is this right for you?

Worth checking before you buy

A good fit if…

  • You’re 18+ with mild to moderate hearing loss
  • You struggle with conversations or TV at home
  • In-canal aids hurt, feel blocked or whistle
  • Your ear canals are narrow or easily irritated by ear tips
  • You want to set them up yourself, without an appointment

Not the right choice if…

  • Your hearing loss is more than moderate. See a hearing professional.
  • You want an invisible device. This sits outside your ear.
  • You want rich bass for music. An open ear lets bass escape.
  • You have ear pain, discharge, sudden hearing loss or hearing loss in only one ear. See a doctor first.
A close-up of the B02 worn with glasses: the arm curves behind the ear, the speaker rests in the bowl of the ear, and the spectacle arm sits alongside without fouling it.

Wear glasses?

The B02 hooks over your ear, with the speaker resting in the bowl. Your glasses sit above it.

  • Hearing aids on first, then glasses.
  • Glasses off first to avoid catching.

Allow a few days to get used to the routine.

About as wide as a US quarter. Each side weighs 5.6 grams, roughly a teaspoon of sugar.

It sits in front of your ear canal, never inside. Visible up close, but discreet from a distance.

Nothing goes in your ear canal

No tip inside. No seal trapping your voice. Built-in feedback control helps reduce whistling.

How noticeable is it?

This is what it looks like from across a table

Not a close-up. Both of these are shot from where the person opposite you would be sitting.

A woman wearing the B02 talking across a dinner table, seen from the other side
About four feet — dinner table
A man wearing the B02 talking in a kitchen, seen from conversational distance
About five feet — standing conversation

We will not tell you it is invisible. It sits on the outside of your ear, so someone looking for it will see it. At conversational distance most people do not notice it, and it reads as an earbud rather than a hearing aid.

Help after it arrives

You can have it tuned by a fitter, at no extra cost

The app's five-minute check sets a starting profile. If it still does not sound right, a Flysound fitter adjusts it for you remotely — no clinic visit and no fee. Here is exactly how that works.

  1. Email hello@flysoundusa.com and say what does not sound right. Remote fitting is by appointment, so you are given a time rather than left waiting.
  2. At that time a fitter connects to your pair through the app and changes the settings while you listen and say what is better or worse.
  3. The new profile stays on the device. You can still change volume and modes yourself afterwards, from the remote or the app.
  • Getting started — setup, pairing and the hearing check.
  • Fit problems — one side sore, one side loose, glasses in the way.
  • Sound that is not right — too sharp, too quiet, your own voice odd.
  • Returns — starting one, and where to send it.

Reach a person: (302) 271-0679, 24 hours, or hello@flysoundusa.com if you would rather write than talk.
These are over-the-counter hearing aids. They are not suitable for severe or profound hearing loss, which needs a prescription device and a hearing professional.

Where these come from. These are the B02 owner reviews supplied to us by Flysound, the manufacturer, published here in full — the 3 one-star and 7 two-star ratings included. We have not filtered or reordered them. We cannot independently verify each reviewer, so weigh them alongside the things you can check for yourself: the certifications, the independent channels below, and the 100 days.

What owners actually talk about

Each review sorted by subject, with the average rating of that group. This is a more useful picture than one number.

Charging and the case4.839

The highest-rated subject in the whole set. The battery number on the front of the case does a lot of work.

Wearing them with glasses4.718

The question people ask before buying scores above the average, not below it.

Replacing a pair they had stopped wearing4.626

The group this page is written for, and they rate it higher than average.

Calls, music and podcasts from the phone4.653

Streaming is the bonus people did not expect. It also drains the charge faster.

The app, setup and the printed guide4.454

Most got there. Several said to allow an evening and not to rush it.

Several people talking at once4.259

The most written-about subject here, at 59 reviews. It helps. It does not solve it. Read this group before you decide.

Comfort and the open fit4.053

The lowest-rated subject on this page, and one of the most written about. Most settle within a fortnight; a few never found a comfortable position.

Restaurants, cafes and crowded rooms4.116

Second lowest, and the smallest sample here at 16. If this is your main problem, read these first.

The short version. People who wanted ordinary conversation back, who wear glasses, and who had given up on a previous pair rate it highest. Comfort and loud rooms sit at the bottom. No open-ear device shuts a room out.

Common questions

Why did you stop wearing the last pair?

It matters, because this design addresses some of those reasons and not others. Find yours below — and if none of them is your reason, this may not be your device.

  • Something in my ear canal hurt, itched or felt blocked. Nothing goes in the canal here.
  • My own voice sounded hollow, or chewing was loud. The canal being sealed causes that. Leaving it open lets the sound out.
  • They whistled when I hugged someone or put a hat on. Cancelled in the chip, not by wedging a tip in tighter.
  • The controls were too small to manage. A handheld remote is in the box — buttons, not taps on your ear.
Will it help in noisy places like restaurants?

That is a different problem and we are not going to pretend this solves it. An open ear leaves the canal clear, which is why it is comfortable — but it also means the device cannot shut the room out. Expect the person beside you to be clearer and the far end of the table to stay hard work. Owners who wrote about restaurants and crowded rooms rated the B02 4.1 out of 5 — near the bottom of our own review data. If a loud restaurant is the main thing you need fixed, see a hearing professional before you spend anything; no over-the-counter device, this one included, reliably solves it.

Do I need a hearing test or a prescription?

No. Over-the-counter hearing aids are designed to be bought and fitted without a prescription by adults 18 and over with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. The app runs a short hearing check that tunes the device to you. That check is for setup, not a medical diagnosis.

Will people be able to see it?

Yes. The B02 sits on the outside of your ear, so it is visible in the way a small earbud is visible. It is not an invisible in-canal device and we would rather say so than have it arrive as a surprise.

Will people hear what I am hearing?

At normal volume, someone beside you will not make out your call or TV audio. In a silent room at high volume, someone very close may hear faint sound.

Can I stream my television through it?

It pairs with an Android phone or iPhone over Bluetooth 5.3 for calls and audio. Televisions vary — some pair directly, many need a small Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the TV. Check what your set supports before you rely on it.

Can I return them if they are not right for me?

Yes. You have 100 days from delivery to request a return, whatever the reason. You receive a full refund to your original payment method, with no restocking fee.

How do I start a return?

Contact us directly, not the factory:

Once approved, send them back within 7 days.

Do I need to keep the box?

Yes. Return the original box with the hearing aids, case, cables and papers.

Do I pay for return postage?

No. We email you a prepaid return label. If you have already paid for postage, we refund it. Start your return with us so we can arrange it.

When will I receive my refund?

Your refund arrives 5–10 business days after your return is checked in.

Read our full refund policy

Is it waterproof?

No. It is rated IP55, which means it resists dust, sweat and rain. Do not shower, swim or bathe in it, and do not submerge it.

Can I wear them with glasses?

Yes. The arm of your glasses and the arm of the B02 share the same strip of skin behind the ear, so the order matters: put the hearing aids on first and settle your glasses over them. Taking both off at once is where they catch — glasses off first. Expect it to feel awkward for the first few days while you work out your own routine.

Will they stay on if I walk, bend down or chew?

The clip hooks over the outer ear rather than wedging into it, and an anti-loss cord is in the box that links both earpieces behind your neck. If you are doing something where losing one would be a disaster, use the cord.

Can I adjust the fit, and what if my ears are different?

There are no tips or domes to swap — the fit comes from where you seat the clip, so you adjust it by position rather than by parts. Ears are not symmetrical, so it is normal for one side to settle straight away and the other to take more fiddling. If one side still bothers you after a week, call support before you give up — it is usually placement.

Can I use just one, for one ear?

They are sold and priced as a pair and are tuned as a pair, and the price is for both ears. We are not going to claim a single-ear mode we have not verified — if you need one ear only, ask support on (302) 271-0679 before ordering. Note that hearing loss in one ear only is a reason to see a doctor first, not a reason to buy an over-the-counter device.

How long does a charge actually last in a normal day?

Up to 12 hours of ordinary listening, which covers breakfast through the evening for most people. Streaming audio over Bluetooth continuously pulls that down to roughly 6 hours, so a day of television through the aids is different from a day of conversation. The case holds 60+ hours in reserve, a full charge takes about 2.5 hours, and 15 minutes in the case buys you about 2 more hours if you have been caught out. The practical trick is to charge them at the same time as your phone, so it becomes one habit rather than two.

What will the first week be like?

Day one is the hardest, and it is normal. Expect your own voice and ordinary household sounds — cutlery, paper, the fridge — to seem loud at first while your brain recalibrates to hearing them again. The common mistake is changing too many settings on the first day: find a comfortable volume and leave it alone. Start with an hour or two at a time rather than a full day, and build up. Give it a fortnight before you judge, and do not judge it on one noisy dinner. If something still feels wrong after that, call us — that is what the 100 days and the phone number are for.

Do I need a smartphone?

No. Your pair arrives pre-set and ready to use. The included remote adjusts volume and listening modes. The optional app adds a five-minute hearing check and fine-tuning.

Try it for 100 days

A hundred days from the day they arrive. If they are not right, email us for a prepaid label — we cover the return postage ourselves — and send the pair back complete. Full refund, no restocking fee.

The Flysound OpenEar Comfort (model B02) is an over-the-counter hearing aid for adults 18 and over with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. It is not a treatment for any medical condition and does not restore hearing. “FDA registered” means the manufacturer and device are listed with the FDA; it is not an FDA approval or endorsement. The B02 is rated IP55 — it resists dust, sweat and rain and should not be submerged. Individual results vary. Some photographs on this page are digitally created illustrations of the product in use.
